The RavenMasters originally self-released Arte Povera on September 15, 2009. The album emerged from a five-year creative period in which the band wrote a great deal of music but completed relatively few projects.

The record was conceived as a reaction against overproduction. The band wanted the music to remain as close as possible to its original form, preserving the spontaneity and raw energy of the songwriting process. As a result, the album consists of eight simple, stripped-down recordings that embrace rough arrangements and a lo-fi aesthetic.

Rather than being written as a unified project, Arte Povera collects songs that had been demoed or partially recorded over several years but did not fit the band’s other, more ambitious works. Together, they form a surprisingly coherent album centered on themes of growing up, relationships, self-acceptance, addiction, time, and emotional change.

Arte Povera now returns through Music from Alpha in a newly remastered edition and, for the very first time, on vinyl. What was once a hidden gem known mainly to longtime followers can finally be rediscovered as it was meant to be heard.
